After a “golden” performance as back up dancers at Lollapalooza 2008, a breed of female breakdancers joined together to form the group known as “Chicago’s Golden Girls”. The squad consists of Erendira “Eren Boogie” Pedraza, Felicia Buibas, Gaby “G-Baby”Cossyleon, and Melissa “Mystify” Godinez. These lovable, passionate, and talented breaker girls (b-girls) are all from the north and south side areas of Chicago, Illinois. They have been in the Chicago hip hop scene for several years among the male influence that cascades the breakdancing arena. These women have done many performances individually or with their male counterparts and gradually teamed up to finally become a dominating all-female breakdancing crew. Chicago’s Golden Girls first performed for BCS Salon’s hair show with hopes for future projects together to present the unseen side of breakdancing from a woman’s perspective. As time passed, the opportunity to be painted gold from head to toe and perform live on the main stage at Lollapalooza as Kid Sister’s “Let Me Bang” back up dancers was too grand to pass up. The group’s name emerged after several requests from Lollapalooza crowds for a photograph with the “golden girls”. With this new title and fame, these young women will establish the female rights to get down and dirty with the breaker boys (b-boys) with their fancy footwork, exquisite power moves, and flawless breakdancing poses with a twist of femininity and sex appeal.
